Pause

So… I don’t think anyone is actually reading this at launch, but I’ll explain the huge gap in post dates.

I’m currently finishing my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and preparing to finally have some free time again. I’m also planning to upgrade my setup with a new workbench and a new laptop. All of that, combined with my job as a developer, hasn’t left me with much time or space for new projects.

That said — I’m not dead! The smoke detector project is still alive, with lots of planning going on behind the scenes.

For one, I’ve dropped the idea of using Bluetooth. It’s way more hassle on mobile than it’s worth for a portfolio project. Instead, I’ve managed to get a full server and router running on the ESP, so I can have it provide a configuration access point. That simplifies things a lot.

I’m hoping to get back to posting project updates before the end of the year — maybe once I finally graduate.
